'I did not attend Bayside High School and only met Phyllis in SUNY Oneonta, where we became friends. She was a chemistry major and I remember one night when, working late in the science lab, she returned triumphantly to announce that she had 'made nylon'. Phyllis went on to teach chemistry in Westmoreland, NY, (near Rome NY) where I reside. She contracted some sort of brain illness and died in August of 1997. Phyllis was a kind and sensitive soul and I hope she will be remembered by whoever knew her in high school.'
