Greetings -

Planning this reunion has been lots of fun - Looking forward to a great Celebration in October.

Clarification of the tour:  We are working diligently to organize a tour of the school for Saturday afternoon.  We started late, and will keep you posted on our progress.  The $10 donation/per person, at the "door" on that day, will help defray the costs of the tour.

Thank you all for your support.  Please help us spread the word.  Encourage your classmates to register on this site - even if they cannot make the reunion.  We would like to keep this site going, as a way to keep in touch with our classmates.  No banner ads, just us.

We thank you for sending your reservations in right away.  Our time frame is very short - so we need as accurate a count as possible for the hotel.  You can register with your credit card on line or you can send me a check.

For those who want to stay at the hotel, please call them to reserve your room NOW.  The hotel has extended the cut off date to Sept 20th - subject to availability.  Rooms are going fast.  The hotel will not promise the group rate after that date.  (718) 670-7420 is the direct line to reservations.  Mention the Bayside HS 50th Reunion Group rate ($129) when you call.

More later.

My best, Susan Greenfield Korn

Some 'Reunion' Humor:

;+)

 The Class Reunion

  Every five years, as summertime nears,
 An announcement arrives in the mail,
 A reunion is planned; it'll be really grand;
 Make plans to attend without fail.

  I'll never forget the first time we met;
 We tried so hard to impress.
 We drove fancy cars, smoked big cigars,
 And wore our most elegant dress.

  It was quite an affair; the whole class was there.
 It was held at a fancy hotel.
 We wined, and we dined, and we acted refined,
 And everyone thought it was swell.

  The men all conversed about who had been first
 To achieve great fortune and fame.
 Meanwhile, their spouses described their fine houses
 And how beautiful their children became.

  The homecoming queen, who once had been lean,
 Now weighed in at one-ninety-six.
 The jocks who were there had all lost their hair,
 And the cheerleaders could no longer do kicks.

  No one had heard about the class nerd
 Who'd guided a spacecraft to the moon;
 Or poor little Jane, who's always been plain;
 She married a shipping tycoon.

  The boy we'd decreed 'most apt to succeed'
 Was serving ten years in the pen,
 While the one voted 'least' now was a priest;
 Just shows you can be wrong now and then.

  They awarded a prize to one of the guys
 Who seemed to have aged the least..
 Another was given to the grad who had driven
The farthest to attend the feast.

  They took a class picture, a curious mixture
 Of beehives, crew cuts and wide ties.
 Tall, short, or skinny, the style was the mini;
 You never saw so many thighs.

  At our next get-together, no one cared whether
 They impressed their classmates or not.
 The mood was informal, a whole lot more normal;
 By this time we'd all gone to pot.

  It was held out-of-doors, at the lake shores;
 We ate hamburgers, coleslaw, and beans.
 Then most of us lay around in the shade,
 In our comfortable T-shirts and jeans.

  By the fiftieth year, it was abundantly clear,
 We were definitely over the hill.
 Those who weren't dead had to crawl out of bed,
 And be home in time for their pill.

  And now I can't wait; they've set the date;
 Our sixtieth is coming, I'm told.
 It should be a ball, they've rented a hall
 at the Shady Rest Home for the old.

  Repairs have been made on my hearing aid;
 My pacemaker's been turned up on high.
 My wheelchair is oiled, and my teeth have been boiled;
 And I've bought a new wig and glass eye.

  I'm feeling quite hearty, and I'm ready to party
 I'm gonna dance 'til dawn's early light.
 It'll be lots of fun; But I just hope that there's one
 Other person who can make it that night.

Classmates,

In order to ensure you receive important messages from our class web site, as well as messages sent directly to you from other Classmates, it's important you whitelist the email address noreply@classcreator.net (that's a .net, not a .com).

What is whitelisting? Whitelisting simply means you are telling your email program to accept all emails coming from our class web site and our Classmates. The technique for whitelisting varies by email program, but generally you will see the term "Whitelist", "Safe List", or "Safe Sender's List". This is where you want to be sure you have added the email address noreply@classcreator.net.

Class Creator, the system that helps us operate our class web site, uses the address noreply@classcreator.net when sending out email messages. Be assured that all emails sent through our site are valid — you will not receive spam email. Whitelisting noreply@classcreator.net is the single most important thing you can do to ensure you don't miss anything happening on our site or miss receiving your emails from your fellow Classmates.

Stop and take a moment to whitelist noreply@classcreator.net right now, and ensure you stay connected!

Sincerely,

Bill Casale

A message from Susan:

Because of our very late start, we expect a lot of last minute registrations.  We are doing our best to get the word out.  On Saturday, there will be a tour of the High School - final arrangements are being made by Mickie Kerner Moser and the Principal's Office.  They are having SAT exams during the day, so our tour will be at 4 PM.  I expect that we will gather in Bayside for a less formal walk down "Memory Lane" - exact time and location to be arranged.  Out-of-towners will gather somewhere for dinner on Saturday night.  The hotel has a lovely restaurant - good food and very congenial.  We were there several weeks ago when in NY for business.  I know that anyone who attends will have a great time.

Please, share this with your friends - the more the merrier - And do remember, it takes a lot of work to put a reunion together - we have taken on the job because we really do want our 50th to be a great celebration.

If you are not sure, sitting on the fence, waiting to see if your friends are coming - tell them to join you, and register now.  We'll all have fun!

Reunion afterglow . . . . . .

Was our 50th Reunion great, or what~?~?~?  The weekend started on Saturday afternoon with a nostalgic tour of our old alma mater.  We had a wonderful gal who led our tour and was very knowledgeable about the school and it's past.  I think to most of us everything seemed somewhat smaller.  It was great seeing the auditorium, lunch room with vending machines, pool, gyms, locker rooms, etc.  So many computers~!  What did the staff of our day do without them~?  Use a lot of pencils and paper, I guess.

One of the most striking things was the wonderful student artwork on the walls~!  Absolutely amazing~!  And the beautiful things they displayed in cases from the shops~!   I only remember various boxes and generic things.  Remember the park across the street~?  It now has a soccer field~!  Remember how much we enjoyed the park at lunch~?  Today's students are not allowed in the park~!!  Oh, and I would be remiss if I didn't mention the guard desk at the entrance and the security pass-through in the library~!!

Dinner that evening was in the hotel restaurant and was a wonderful preview of what was to come on Sunday.

The reunion itself far exceeded our expectations  -- mainly because folks came to party with old and new friends~!  The decorations were wonderful~!! The best hors d'ouvres were the White Castles that were brought in~!!  They disappeared in a flash~!!  (White Castle donated burger-shaped coupons for us~!  How nice was that~?)  The food was excellent~!

A wonderful video of old photos set to music was shown and great music played the rest of the time .  Some actually danced~!  We had a raffle with some very nice gifts.  Of course, we did our best to sing our old school song~!   A lot of people took pictures that I look forward to seeing posted.

The time just flew by and it ended with promises to stay in touch and the mutual feeling that 50 years had gone by in a heartbeat~!  I for one am so looking forward to the next reunion~!!  It sure would be lovely to see even more than the 60 folks who attended.

Till next time,

Mickie Kerner Moser

 To all of my Bayside High family, to those who took the challenge and made it happen, love and kisses to you all for making one autumn Sunday so memorable for me.

It was soo worth the early morning drive from Boston to return to a warm cocoon of friendship and memories.

Ah yes we have changed, but so too we have stayed the same.

I always knew that I loved those years at Bayside, and now I really know why. It was you my friends,it was you.

Be well and stay in touch.
